A new cantina is swinging open its doors for business in Elk Grove.
Cicada Cantina, a Mexican restaurant from Redding, has filed the appropriate paperwork to expand into Elk Grove at the location formerly occupied by Logan’s Roadhouse restaurant off Highway 99.
The 8,000-square-foot eatery, expected to open by April, will be fully renovated with special artwork for an ambience that breaks the mold. This philosophy applies to Cicada Cantina’s menu, too.
Reviews from customers of the Cicada Cantina in Redding say they feel a sense of excitement when they step inside the restaurant, which is known for innovative and unique Mexican food without a compromise to authenticity.
Lunch, brunch and dinner are all served.
Some appetizer highlights include shrimp tostada, street tacos, carnitas, chipotle wings, garlic cotija fries, bacon jalapeno poppers, flautas, Mexican pizza and five different guacamole concoctions.
The classic brunch menu is available on Sundays and features both “Huevos a la Mexicana,” a traditional Mexican egg dish, and bold offerings such as the “Biscuits and Choriza Gravy.” Heuvos rancheros and pozole are other staples on the menu.
For dinner, the main “signature” attractions include molcajete (lava rock), seafood molcajete, stuffed chicken, chipotle dusted salmon, chili relleno and carne asada Americano. Customers will also find more familiar dishes on the classic Mexican dinner menu.
Cicada Cantina also delivers with its well-stocked cantina and assorted cocktail offerings.
The Redding location also has a “doggie menu,” which includes Pooch Patty and Kibble-Nibble.
The Elk Grove community is excited for this addition to its already stellar lineup of restaurants that are family friendly, exciting and offer something fresh and different.
