Another hurdle has been cleared in Elk Grove’s effort to bring a Las Vegas-style casino the area.
A management contract has been approved by the National Indian Gaming Commission to allow BGM Co. Inc. to manage the facility, according to the Sacramento Business Journal. BGM is a subsidiary of Boyd Gaming, which runs 29 casinos across Las Vegas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
The 600,000 square-foot Elk Grove casino project is packaged as a hospitality and entertainment facility, with a 12-story 302 room hotel, spa, and pool. It will also feature six restaurants and bars, and a 110,260-square-foot gaming floor. There is also room included for a large 47,634-square foot convention center.
Financing details are still being worked out by all parties for the $500 million project, and that remains the next milestone to check off before construction can commence. It is currently expected that the casino could open in 2020, with the name and new designs being released in the near future, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.
We can’t wait to welcome a new economic engine to the area! Stay tuned as we will be sharing more details as they become available.
