Residents of Elk Grove love their baby back, baby back, baby back ribs. One reason is because Elk Grove ranks among the top barbeque cities in the nation.

Of the nearly 200 cities surveyed, LawnStarter placed Elk Grove in the top 20 using a number of factors, including quality of foods, number of food festivals and access to barbeque.

The number of restaurants and smokehouses per resident is a factor too. For quality, LawnStarter took a look at consumer ratings and awards. The company also weighed the number of top-rated restaurants and smokehouses and median ratings and reviews.

Los Angeles was the only California city to rank above Elk Grove at 14. Our neighbor Sacramento ranked in the top 60, but we’re not boasting. Kansas City, Chicago and Houston round out the top three cities. Check out the full list here.

Have you tried some of Elk Grove’s finest? MacQue’s Barbeque, The Barn Café, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and Texas Roadhouse are some of Elk Grove’s go-to barbeque eateries. The city is home to several highly regarded Hawaiian and Korean barbeque restaurants as well.
