Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather appears to be bringing a fitness concept center to Elk Grove, nearly a year after plans for a Sacramento-area location were announced.

Mayweather Boxing + Fitness is planning on leasing a spot in The Ridge, a shopping center in Elk Grove along Elk Grove Boulevard and Bruceville Road.  Business leaders with the project say that the leasing for the center is nearing the finish line.

A 2,500-square-foot facility will be home to the new fitness center, which offers group exercise classes that have been developed by the former champion and are suitable for everyday athletes.

The center bills itself as an inclusive high-intensity fitness experience that blends boxing, strength training, and cardio conditioning intervals.  The regimen is designed to make trainees feel and look good. Mayweather Boxing + Fitness offers a digital coaching experience as well with its Champ app.

The fitness center will join a growing development at The Ridge. Costco and other businesses are already part of the development, and other buildings are in the works. Current occupants of the plaza include Olive Garden, West Coast Sourdough, and Pieology Pizzeria.

A Korean-inspired dessert shop and Crumbl Cookies are also expected to join the lineup, along with a Buffalo Wild Wings.
