Earl of Sandwich, a sandwich maker specializing in the art of the hot sub, is opening up shop in the popular Laguna Gateway shopping center sometime in June.
The new Earl of Sandwich will be the first in the Sacramento region, but there are more than 40 franchises across the nation. Orlando landed the first shop in 2004 and is the company’s flagship location.
Made-to-order sandwiches, freshly tossed salads and pizza breads are some of the items customers have come to love. The fast and casual dining spot is in the midst of construction. Plans include a patio area for dining in.
Conceptualized after a British nobleman and avid gambler, John Montagu, who insisted on placing roast beef between two slices of bread for uninterrupted play, Earl of Sandwich continues to celebrate the legacy behind the meal that changed everything nearly 250 years ago.
Earl of Sandwich is known for its welcoming and warm atmosphere and delicious hot sandwiches. More than a grab-and-go establishment, customers quickly become fans once they have a taste.
Here’s a sampling of the sandwich menu:
Philly Cheesesteak: Made famous by the City of Brotherly Love, this classic includes tender chopped beef steak, provolone, mushrooms, sautéed green peppers and onions on a freshly baked artisan bread.
The Earl’s Club: Stacked with turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and their famous sandwich sauce.
Tuna Melt: Albacore tuna salad, Swiss and mayonnaise.
The Original 1762: Roasted beef, cheddar and horseradish sauce on two slices of bread.
Italian: Made with salami, capicola, ham, pepperoni, mozzarella, Roma tomato, Italian seasoning and dressing.
Cannonballs! Another classic that’s stuffed with meatballs and comes with mozzarella, Italian seasoning and marinara sauce.
Earl of Sandwich also handcrafts lunch wraps. Some of the options include the buffalo chicken with grilled meat, cheddar, romaine, tomato, celery salt, buffalo salt and bleu cheese dressing. Chicken bacon avocado, chicken Caesar and spicy tuna are part of the wrap lineup. Fresh green salads are also available.
Lunch foods aren’t the only thing on the menu. Hot breakfast sandwiches are also on the menu, including egg and cheddar, ham and Swiss and a breakfast BLT. Breakfast burritos, oatmeal, baked goods and fruit cups are also available.
